Christmas is in the air throughout Merri-bek this December! As the year draws to a close, the streets and shop fronts are adorned with Christmas decorations and artwork to celebrate this festive season with our community.
Festive Art on Windows – a festive frolic along Sydney Road Brunswick
The Sydney Road Brunswick Association commissioned the help of over 30 artists from near and far to transform over 40 shopfront windows along Sydney Road, Brunswick into colourful interpretations of the festive season.
Completed over two weekends, the festive window creations can be found in the Anstey Precinct (Victoria Street to Albion Street of Sydney Road Brunswick), and Jewell Precinct (Brunswick Road to Glenlyon Road of Sydney Road Brunswick).
From winter wonderlands and mystic creatures, flora and fauna; wreaths, candy canes and ice creams; worldly wonders, colourful expressions and messages of well-wishes – this year’s creations from participating artists are a feast to behold and truly worth a weekend wander down Sydney Road.
With so many windows to see, you’re best to download the map available and make a day of it! Grab a coffee and some festive cake, enjoy the unique shopping experience, and support the many small businesses along Sydney Road Brunswick.

Make sure you pop over to Coburg and check them out one Saturday this December!
If the kids want to see the big man in red, The West Street Hadfield Traders Association has brought Santa and his elf to West Street, Hadfield from Saturday 17 December. Come and say “Hi” to Santa while getting your Christmas grocery shopping done.
